Forum on the Macroeconomics of Green and Resilient Transitions

The Forum on the Macroeconomics of Green and Resilient Transitions brings together Ministry of Finance officials, economists, and analysts from around the world to strengthen the economic evidence base for green and resilient transitions. It is a unique opportunity to discuss how to build better evidence and analytical tools, connect those tools to the practitioners who need them, and foster the communities of practice that drive lasting change. The 3rd Forum is tentatively planned for March/April 2027.

As documented across this website, Ministries of Finance and other economic ministries are grappling with a new set of daunting questions and urgently need credible information and evidence to navigate these challenges and opportunities—but often lack tools and data. This calls for a community effort to share ideas, methods, and lessons across those who develop analytical methods and those who apply them—and to build the shared tools and frameworks that no single institution could produce alone. The Forum is part of building that community.

In practice

The Forum is above all a working meeting, designed to facilitate peer learning, hands-on problem solving, and practical exchange. For all those involved, the Forum provides a venue for identifying opportunities to collaborate and to chart out joint strategies.

The Forum brings together four communities whose collaboration is essential to spur rapid change: (1) Policy practitioners and analysts in Ministries of Finance, (2) international financial institutions, (3) universities and think tanks, and (4) those that fund or program technical assistance and research activities in philanthropies, government agencies, and elsewhere. It has a particular emphasis on robust participation from emerging markets and developing economies.

The inaugural Forum was held in Washington D.C. in April 2024, attended by over 120 participants including representatives from more than 20 Ministries of Finance. The 2nd Forum followed in Copenhagen, Denmark, in June 2025. Over 240 participants attended, including 90 from over 45 Ministries of Finance, 45 from international financial institutions and other international organizations, 80 from universities and think tanks, and 25 from philanthropy. The Forum was co-hosted by the Danish Ministry of Finance, the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, and the Bezos Earth Fund.
